Press Release 8th September 2010

Many good reasons to attend!

cinec – International Trade Fair for Cine Equipment and Technology
18th – 20th September 2010
M,O,C, Munich

The exhibition

170 manufacturers and service providers from 15 countries present the whole range of film technology on 6.100 square meters in the M,O,C, Events Center: Cranes and dollies, cameras and lenses, lighting and much more for film shooting and postproduction. This means another increase in the number of exhibitors. International industry leaders like Arri, GFM, P+S Technik, Sachtler and Panther will also take part. 69 exhibitors are from abroad, which makes a percentage of 40% - another proof of the international significance of the cinec.

cinecAward
The best innovations of the trade fair will be appraised by an expert jury and awarded the cinecAward. The prize honours developments in the categories Camera Technology, Optics, Camera Support/Grip, Camera Equipment, Lighting Engineering, Postproduction/Digital Editing. An eligible “clever idea” might be awarded with a special prize. The cinecAward is presented by the Bavarian Society for the Advancement of Film Technology (Fördergemeinschaft Filmtechnik Bayern e.V. - FGF). The winners will be honoured in a festive state reception by the State of Bavaria at the Kaisersaal of the Munich Residenz (invitation required!) on Sunday.

Ancillary Program
cinec, Germany’s largest trade show for cine technology, is being accompanied by a number of talks and workshops from 18th – 20th September. Two hot topics of the industry will be focused on: the production in Stereo-3D and the digital workflow.

cinecForum Stereo 3D
Stereoscopy is supposed to be the third revolution of cinema. Wish or reality? In the cinecForum 3D, experts like the 3D pioneer Alaric Hamacher with support of the leading producers and service providers of the sector will explain and show by using case studies what is really behind the hype. On Saturday and Sunday, all aspects of production will be examined – from previsualization to postproduction. The outstanding position of Bavaria will be looked at on Saturday, when leading service providers and manufacturers from Bavaria will discuss future trends and developments. This event takes place in cooperation with the Cluster Audiovisual Media.

Data management and archiving
Archives with immense program content are the goldmines of the media landscape – long term archiving of these contents must be first priority for producers and broadcasting corporations. New technical developments cause changes in working processes and open up new chances. Manufacturers and developers are affected in the same way as cinematographers and DITS, editors and set designers, producers and production managers. The whole Monday is dedicated to questions regarding digitalisation, data management and archiving.

Meeting point
Not only technology: cinec is the ideal meeting and networking place. Apart from manufacturers and service providers, all professional associations which are part of the German organization “DIE FILMSCHAFFENDEN”, the network crew-united.com and the FKTG have their own stands. And everything which will be talked about can be seen, scrutinized and tested hands-on during the three days of the cinec!

Come and see for yourself – in Munich from 18th to 20th September.
