The new dimension

cinec – International Trade Fair for Cine Equipment and Technology
18th – 20th September 2010
M,O,C, Munich

Numerous talks and workshops accompany the cinec, Germany’s largest fair for Cine Equipment and Technology, from 18th to 20th September 2010. While more than 130 companies from 14 countries (last update: middle of June) demonstrate the current state of the art for film shooting and editing in the halls of the M,O,C,, all questions concerning the technology and its application are answered and dealt with in detail in the seminar program. It focuses on two of the subjects the film industry is occupied with the most at the moment: stereo-3D-production and digital workflow. The new technological developments alter the working process and open up new chances. Manufacturers and developers are affected as well as cinematographers and DITs, editors and set designers, producers, directors of production and production managers.

On Saturday, it is all about stereoscopy – from the production preparation to the finished three-dimensional visual experience. In the morning, tools for previsualisation and the new technology for shooting are introduced in 30-minute lectures. The afternoon starts off with the presentation of selected and current best practice examples. Afterwards, producers from Bavaria demonstrate the technology and service they have on offer for the new cinema. And even more: The researchers of the Fraunhofer-Institut give an outlook on the trends and developments which are to be expected in the future.
Sunday is dedicated to 3D and the cinema. Subjects are for example stereoscopic projection systems and digital distribution for cinemas and finally the 3D live-production which has been used more broadly for the first time during the football world cup.
On Monday, modern workflows and archiving are the main items on the agenda. The talks deal with special features of the film workflow and scanning as well as solutions for archiving the footage and platforms for processing. Besides, Kodak presents a new film emulsion.

A cinec-»warm-up« takes place two days before the opening of the fair: On Thursday, 16th of September from 5 o’clock onwards, a screening in Munich’s Arri-cinema (Türkenstr. 91, 80799 Munich) shows the new dimensions the stereoscopy offers for the production of commercial and image films. Afterwards, a panel discussion with experts from the film industry will take place.

The complete program and schedule will be available on www.cinec.de from end of August. On top of that, everything which is being discussed in the seminar program can be seen »live«, appraised and tested hands-on during three days at the cinec.

See for yourself – in the M,O,C, in Munich.
