cinecAwards 2012

After two very lively days at the cinec, many exhibitors and guests gathered in the Kaisersaal of Munich’s Residence last night. They celebrated the winners of the cinecAward during a festive state reception.


The Bavarian State Minister for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, Martin Zeil, welcomed the guests from the international film industry. After that, the Society for cineTechnik Bayern e.V. (CTB) gave the much sought-after cinecAwards to nine outstanding innovations. 47 applications for the award had been received.

In the category Camera Support/Grip:

Campilots - Campilots CableCam
In comparison to other cable camera systems, the Campilots CableCam only needs one cable and two fixtures. Safe operating, quick and flexible set up, spectacular and smooth travelling shots are the essential innovations of the CableCam.

In the category Camera Technology/New Digital Capturing Tools:

Arnold & Richter Cine Technik GmbH & Co. Betriebs KG - ARRI ALEXA Studio

The ALEXA Studio is based on the ALEXA family of cameras, but it is the only digital camera that combines film camera-style features like a rotating mirror shutter, an optical viewfinder and a 4:3 sensor.

Cooke Optics Ltd. - Cooke/i Technology
It is the first metadata system for motion picture production that is open, non-proprietary and developed in order to unify and streamline metadata collection.

In the Open Category:

Volfoni SAS - Volfoni SmartCrystal

The SmartCrystal Polarization Modulator works wireless via DLP-Link technology. Compatibility is given with all 3D DLP-Link projectors, which makes it easier for postproduction, cinemas and home entertainment.

In the category Lighting Engineering:

The ARRI L-Series is an LED fixture which truly incorporates the Fresnel characteristics of continous focusability from spot to flood and a smooth, homogenous light field.

PRG - TruColor HS
TruColor HS is a LED-based lighting instrument capable of outputting a very large volume of light at consistently very high color rendering with a near-continous color spectrum approaching that of tungsten filaments.
